Warriors over the Wasatch

We braved the cold weather last Saturday and headed to the Air Show with Aaron & Samantha and their kids.  Hill AFB hasn't had a show for a few years so we were so excited to get to go this year...but sadly the weather did not cooperate.

The first couple of hours were fine.  It was windy and a little cold but tolerable.  We walked through some of the airplane displays and checked out the helicopters and planes up close.  The kids loved it.
Aiden loved sitting in the cockpit of one of the planes.  A & B love all things transportation so they were in heaven looking at everything up close.
We finally found a perfect location to set up chairs and watch the planes...but sadly about the time we sat down, the weather decided to take a turn for the worse.  The temperature dropped quick, the winds picked up, and it started raining (and pouring).
The show kept going for a little while but once the rain turned into a torrential downpour, they put the show on hold. There were a couple places to find shelter there but they were packed so we had no options except to be out in the middle of the storm. We were parked about 30 minutes away so running to the car for a little while to get shelter was not that easy either.  We were out in the middle of it with one little umbrella and light jackets - and that was it. Swen and his kids showed up right about that time so we decided to see if it would pass, but after getting drenched (seriously everything on us got soaking wet) and seeing no sign of the storm passing, we called it a day.  Kids were both crying at this point, our chairs and blankets and shoes were soaked and not an inch of our bodies were dry.  These pictures don't even do justice to how wet and cold we really were.  After booking it to the car, we finally made it and spent the whole drive home blasting the heat and trying to dry off.
Brennan's face shows exactly how we were all feeling on our way back to the car.  Being cold and wet with those freezing cold winds was pretty miserable.  I seriously don't know how the pioneers ever lasted in weather like this. At one point, Nate and I just looked at each other and bust out laughing because we were definitely not prepared for the weather at all!  Who would have thought the end of May could have such crazy weather? We were sad we only stayed at the show for two hours so hopefully next year Mother Nature will cooperate and we can enjoy the air show a little more!
