{New Room}
Aiden finally outgrew his beloved fire truck bed and Brennan was ready to no longer sleep in a crib because he climbed out anyway. So we changed the boys room around a little. Aiden is now in a twin size bed and Brennan is in our crib-made-into-toddler-bed. They seem to love their new set up.
{New Schedule}
But this furniture change has also brought about another sad change: my boys no longer nap. Seriously, I have been dreading this day for a long time because nap time is the best. For the last year and a half, we've had the best set-up with both kids napping at the exact same time every day. Even though Aiden is over four, he would nap perfectly without a fight. And Brennan knew Aiden was napping so he was fine to do it too. It gave me time to clean, work on my calling, read, nap myself, and I recently started working from home a couple of hours a day so it gave me time to do that too. It was the perfect set-up.
About a month ago, Aiden decided he just wanted "quiet time" instead of napping which I was okay with because he is old enough to not nap. But once Brennan caught on that Aiden was not napping, he gave up his naps cold turkey too. Brennan is only 2 1/2...so naps would still be very much appreciated. But no matter what I try, this is our new schedule. The boys both have "quiet time" in the middle of the day, but "quiet time" is not always so "quiet". :) And I have really been missing those 2-3 hours I no longer have. So this past month has been hard trying to find time to do all the stuff I used to do while the slept. I'm sure the no nap thing will become the new normal soon, but I sure do miss nap time!
{New Table}
Another change we made was switching out our old kitchen table for this one. Nate's parents were storing their nice kitchen table in their basement and so they offered to let us use it while they didn't need it. I love their table and it is SO nice to have a bigger table! It can expand too because their are two leaves so when we have people over we have plenty of room.
{New Car}
It finally came time to sell Nate's white Camry. He has had it since high school and it has been such a good car. Seriously, Camrys are such good, reliable cars. That is probably why we have another one :) For being an older car, it ran great. It was the car Nate and his friends drove all through high school, the car Nate used to pick me up in for our dates, the car we drove when we were first married, and there are lots of memories associated with this car...so, as cheesy as it sounds, it was a little sad to see it go once we sold it.
But it was time for us to get a bigger car because it was a little tight in our other Camry when we went grocery shopping or had to drive someone else around and three people were squeezed in the back seat.
It was hard finding a bigger car we could both agree on. When we were first married we made a pact (for whatever reason) that we wouldn't ever drive a van. But over time I realized how economical and nice they are so I tried talking Nate into one. But he didn't budge so we looked around for an SUV. Nate had rented an Acadia over a year ago when he went on a business trip and he fell in love. Then we he pointed one out to me, I fell in love too. So the last month or so we were searching for the perfect Acadia for us and we finally found it!
We lucked out finding an amazing deal on this one. Nate treats it like his little baby :) After driving the same cars for so long, it is fun to have a little change.
