preschool - year 2

I can't believe this is Aiden's last year of preschool before Kindergarten!  And once he starts Kindergarten he will be in school for what seems like forever! I know every mom gets nostalgic for how quickly time goes but really it does.   And I will miss this kid next year!

But for now I am enjoying him as much as possible.  He is so grown up and responsible and sweet and smart!  He is already writing all of the letters, numbers, and small words.  And he can read small words too and loves to read a few of the words when we read scriptures as a family.  It is so fun to see him soak everything in around him.  He loves learning and he will be more than ready for Kindergarten in a year.

We are doing our preschool co-op a second year and I've been the one that gets to teach first.  I seriously LOVE our set-up in this preschool and love that the other moms in it put so much effort into it to make it awesome.  My friend Lindi gave us a lot of the ideas to implement for this second year because her older son did Kindergarten last year so we're copying a lot of the ideas they did in his Kindergarten class.  The kids have sight words each week, simple books to read for homework, reading charts, and small homework assignments, and other cool ways to teach the kids.  Aiden and the other kids seem to love it and we have so many fun ideas planned this year and I can hardly wait.  Maybe I'm a perfectionist, but planning the lessons for the last couple of weeks has been a lot of work!  I seriously don't know how "real" teachers do it because teaching is exhausting!  But I love it and feel so blessed to have friends that are doing it with us.

When I went outside to take Aiden's picture, Brennan really wanted a "preschool picture" too.  Brennan loves to tag along while I teach and I know he will be sad when all the preschool kids switch to a different house and he stays behind.  Hopefully we can round up enough people to do a preschool co-op for him next year!
