halloween week

We had a great time celebrating Halloween last week.  The boys got to dress up for the ward party, a preschool party, a Halloween birthday party, my mom's school parade, and actual Halloween of course.  So their costumes were put to good use!  Melanie made the boys their adorable "A" and "B" capes and they were in heaven pretending to be superheros all week long.
Nate went out of town for a work conference the whole week of Halloween but luckily we got to go to the Macfarlane's Halloween party the night before he left...and I'm glad he could at least celebrate Halloween one time.  The Macfarlanes always have such awesome parties and we had a lot of fun that night.

Nate and I always wait to find costumes until the day of the party so this year Nate went as the "Ginger-Bread Man" in which he tied bread around his waste and wrote a cardboard sign to explain what he was (and pointed to his hair for those that didn't get his costume).  A little white trash, yes.  But he won a prize at the party for the least amount of effort put into his costume...so I guess it was worth it.  Maybe next year we'll put more effort into our costumes :)
The next day Nate went out of town so the boys and I packed up our stuff and headed to my parents for the week.  I know I'm 25 and should be more independent, but when Nate leaves town for so long, its a good excuse to go hang out with my parents.  The boys loved being with grandpa and grandma all week.

We went to Hee Haws with my mom one of the days we were there. Seriously, Hee Haws is such a fun place.  We spent almost 3 hours there going on the animal train, petting the animals, walking (and getting lost) through a corn maze, going on a hay ride, and seeing all the other fun things there.
Right before we were going to leave, we heard they were doing a pig chase so we had to stay and watch.  They divided up the kids into ages and let the kids chase the pigs around until they could hold onto one for at least 5 seconds.  Aiden and Brennan were in the 2-4 age group and it was so funny seeing them run around. Brennan didn't quite understand what he was supposed to do and Aiden was scared to grab a pig...but he eventually held onto one and won a prize. It was so entertaining to watch the kids chase the tiny pigs.
Thanks Mom and Dad for a fun week!  Now we're looking forward to Thanksgiving in just two weeks! I love this time of year!
