To celebrate my Grandma Blackham's big 80th birthday this year, she took all five of her kids (and their kids, and their kids' kids) to Bear Lake for a long weekend. We stayed in this huge house just a mile from the lake that fit all 45 of us. It was the perfect spot for a family reunion. It was an all-around amazing trip!
It was so fun because both Andrew's family and Nathan's family flew into town for it so our kids had most of their Curtis cousins there. All those cousins get along so well and they were in heaven! Aiden, Camryn, and Jackson were great little buddies like always and Sydney and Brennan became inseparable much of the time too. And of course it was fun to have all the little baby girls together. On the way up, we drove up to a quiet spot along the river for a picnic and then we let the kids play in the shallow water there. And then we drove a little ways closer to Bear Lake and stopped again for a little 30 minute nature walk/hike.
After a leisurely morning driving up to Bear Lake, we finally arrived at the cabin on Thursday afternoon. It was the perfect size for such a big group. The little kids especially loved the house because there was a huge sandbox in the backyard...that is where the kids spent the majority of their time when they were at the house.
Each of the three nights we were there, we had fun activities planned. One night we did minute-to-win-it games, another night we did a tribute about my grandma's life, and all three nights we had game nights when the little kids went to bed. My mom organized the minute-to-win-it games and the tribute and she did such a great job. One of the funnest things of all was staying up way too late each night with the adults to play games, talk, and laugh way too much!
We also took some family pictures one of the mornings too. Here is one with my parents and most of their posterity (just missing Steve's family and Becca):
My mom snapped a couple pics of just the five of us on my cell phone too:
And a funny face picture of course too...
The majority of the time at Bear Lake, we played at the beach! We had so much fun playing in the water and in the sand, going on the wave-runner, jumping on the water trampoline, kayaking, and boating on Brent's boat (tubing for the boys and skiing for Nate....Callie fell asleep on my lap during the boat ride so I just stayed on the warm, dry boat). We loved being at the beach!
The last evening, we went out for famous Raspberry shakes (except I got mint Oreo and the little boys got Root beer flavored shakes). We sure ate well during our stay up there!
It was such a fun weekend! We love Bear Lake!
