There is nothing quite like the first few weeks with a newborn. Yes, you are sleep-deprived and feel exhausted but nothing compares to snuggling that new babe straight from heaven. I was SO blessed this time with the quickest recovery after Graham's delivery. I felt fine just a couple days after he was born and I felt like we settled into having a family of six so fast. After such a hard pregnancy, it was a huge blessing to recover easily and for things to go so smoothly.
He had his days and nights mixed up for a long time but I think (and hope!) he has finally figured out to sleep longer stretches at night. The past few nights he has slept from about 10pm-3am before needing to eat again so that 5 hour stretch has been nice. We also figured out that he didn't love sleeping in his little bassinet/play pen...I think the pad was just too hard. So Nate and I went to Target and bought him a little Sleep 'n Play and he loves sleeping in that.
He was a great little nurser right off and at his 2 week appointment he had already gained an entire pound weighing 8 lbs 12 oz. I think he is going to bulk up fast. I'm not sure what he weighs now but I'm sure he's close to 10 pounds.
Graham is such a sweet baby. After he eats, he is usually awake for 20 minutes or so and just quietly looks around. When he gets fussy, we stick that little binky in and he will settle down. He loves that binky! And he loves to be rocked. When you rock him with his binky in, he almost always falls right to sleep.
Nate and I have been in awe at how thoughtful and generous people have been. We had meals brought in from 5 or 6 people and even though we tell people we're fine and we can feed ourselves, people insist on bringing us food. We've had friends and family volunteer to watch the 3 older kids on different occasions so we could have quality time with Graham..that was SO nice having that time just with him. We've had treats and gifts delivered and so many people visit. It has helped us feel so loved! Honestly people are so kind!
Anyway, we're all obsessed with Graham and feel so blessed he's here. I have taken SO many pictures of him this past month because I wanna soak up this stage as much as I can (cause it may be our last time with a newborn...who knows?!)
He wasn't so sure about his first bath...
Grandpa Tadje couldn't make it to the hospital to meet Graham so we went over a few days after he was born to show Grandpa his 40th(!) grandbaby.
These kids (plus Aiden who isn't pictured) LOVE their brother. They are always giving him kisses and begging to hold him and wanting to be next to him at all times. It is so sweet. Sibling love is the best!
He loves his Rock n' Play...best $60 we've spent!
Milk coma...
I didn't take pictures of most of our visitors but I did remember to take pictures when Becca and Swen came to visit. We felt so loved with so many people coming to see our little guy!
This picture was taken today - when Graham turned exactly one month old. He is already starting to loose a little of that "newborn" look...and from the first picture I posted on here to this one you can see how he has already grown and changed! Time needs to slow down!
