camping at Timpanooke

We went camping with some friends over this past weekend.  We went with the Brewers for both nights and then the Perrys came up for a night, and then the Bayolas came up during the day on Saturday too.  We had a good time hanging out, hiking, eating lots of good camping food, and watching the kids have a blast running around and exploring together.

Trying to go camping for couple of nights with two kids, a baby, and two adults takes A LOT of stuff!  I had to take a picture of how jam-packed we were in our car.  This picture doesn't even do justice to how much stuff we had to bring for two nights.
Right after we arrived and set up camp, it started raining!  Of course.  So some of us hung out in  the Brewer's camper and Callie and I hung out in the car for a while.  Luckily, it only rained for a few minutes and then the rest of our camping trip was great weather.
Callie is at a hard age to go camping because she is super busy and not quite walking; she just wants to crawl around. So we let her crawl around a little, but for the most part we tried corralling her in her play pen, the stroller, the hiking back pack, or our arms.  Hopefully by our next camping trip she will be walking.
Justin and Nate took the kids on a few little bike rides but with the hills and the bumpy roads, the kids didn't last too long.  Then on Saturday, Nate, Cole, Tony, and Justin all went mountain biking.  They had a really fun time. Nate has been really into road biking lately and now I think he likes mountain biking just as much so I am sure he will be doing that a lot this summer too.
Saturday we went on a nice little hike with the Brewers before it got too hot during the day.  Callie loves her new hiking backpack and fell fast asleep in it for most of the time.  I love hiking and I hope we go a lot this summer!
Once the Perrys arrived on Saturday, it was fun for Callie to have a little playmate...even though they mostly just try to pull each other's headbands off and they refuse to share :) One day they will be good buddies.
It was a great weekend to welcome in the summer!!
