Over fall break, we made a day trip to Arches National park. 4th graders can get a pass called, "Every Kid in a Park" and so we want to take advantage of that this year and go to a few national parks and monuments. We decided on Arches first and it turned out to be such a fun day adventure! Our first hike was to Landscape Arch and it was so amazing to see how long and skinny the arch stretches.
The kids had a fun time naming rocks and landmarks. This one behind the boys was coined "Battleship."
Graham was always so excited to get out of the baby backpack! He loved climbing on rocks and playing in the dirt.
When we went over to Sand Dune Arch the kids LOVED the soft sand! They played in it for over an hour. They were so filthy afterwards but didn't seem to care one bit!
Brennan was a mountain goat and loved climbing all over the rocks.
Towards the end of the day, we walked around the Windows arches and Turret arch where you can see lots of arches all around. We loved hiking and exploring all over there when the crowds weren't as bad and we could take our time. And the sun began setting and it made for some picturesque spots!
On the way home we were planning to head to Moab for dinner but when we left Arches the traffic to get to Moab was bumper to bumper for miles so we decided to head home and find somewhere to eat along the way. We made it to Green River after an hour and nothing looked appealing so we kept driving for another 45 minutes to Price and finally stopped at Wingers to eat. We showed up all dirty and tired at 9pm at Wingers and I'm sure we were quite the sight! But we devoured our food quickly and headed back on the road. Such a fun day with the fam!
