August 2018

We continued with our summer fun in August.  One Saturday during the month Aaron & Samantha invited us to go boating with them at Deer Creek. So we loaded up and went...except the boat wouldn't start!  So we hung out in the boat (with all 10 kids) while Nate & Aaron worked on the boat.  Luckily the Tadjes know the owners of the Deer Creek Marina so they helped the men fix it while Samantha and I let the kids play on the beach. After a while they let us borrow one of their rental boats to do some tubing.  The Eliminator finally started working and we took it for a quick and fast spin around the lake before the sun set. The day didn't go as planned but we still had a good time.
Coming home from the rec center one day I saw all of these cute boys practicing flag football together.  Aiden and Brennan have such wonderful groups of friends and I love that they all get along so well.
Brennan also spent much of his free time doing Lemonade stands and selling old toys. It kept him busy many long summer days :)

Graham isn't a fan of getting his hair gelled...but one day I did it and he looked so grown up!  He's such a joy and I love that he's my little buddy all day every day!
Sadly I wasn't the best at taking pictures this month so besides our Idaho trip and the first day of school pics and the pics above...those are my only pics from August. But I have good reason!

At the end of July, Nate was offered a new position at work up in Farmington! Nate's been a self-employed financial advisor for the past 8 years at Northwestern Mutual.  He randomly got a call from the top rep in Utah for Northwestern Mutual to join him and manage all of his big investment accounts. The investment side of the business is always what has interested Nate the most so after LOTS of hours of deliberation and figuring out the compensation and lots of prayer to see if this was the right move we both felt good about it so he made the switch! He started working up Farmington in the middle of August so he was working LONG hours because of the commute.  He took Frontrunner there for a few weeks and we knew the commute wasn't going to be easy so we also started looking for homes in Davis County.

Shopping for a home was both stressful and exciting.  We didn't know Davis County very well so we did TONS of research.  We originally looked out in West Layton and Syracuse for a home and ended up putting an offer on a home in Layton.  But the next morning Nate and I woke up and both didn't feel good about it so we backed out.  And then we decided we'd wait a little while before looking again.  But Nate's boss sent us a home in South Weber a few days later and the home was everything we were looking for - 3 car garage, 5 bedrooms, open floor plan upstairs, and plenty of space for our family.  Plus the neighborhood it was in had a park a few houses away, the elementary school not even a 1/2 mile away, a rec center the same distance, and a church a few houses away.  And the location of South Weber was just what we wanted - a secluded community but close enough to stores and bigger cities.  I spent HOURS researching everything about South Weber and the area and knew it was a great fit for us. We walked through it a few days later and fell in LOVE with everything about it in person.  And it just felt right.  So we put in an offer the same day and it was accepted!

So we spent the rest of August starting to organize our American Fork home and get rid of things we didn't want to take with us. Plus Nate had started his new job and it was a crazy month for us! The kids had to start school in American Fork and the Bishop had to find a replacement for Nate in the bishopric and there were a lot of things to line up before we moved our family an hour away from Happy Valley.  But we were excited for this new stage of our life and ready for the adventure!
