August 2019

I am super behind in updating this blog but I love having all of our memories in one spot so I'm going to spend the next few days playing catch up.  August feels like an eternity ago - so much has happened since then (like a big move and a new job for Nate and a new school for the kids) but I'll update about that soon.  For now - here's our August update...

Our month started up in Idaho having a blast with our Jared & Trina & kids (I posted about it a couple posts ago)
After Idaho, we spent the rest of the summer hanging out at home, playing with friends, and going on outings close by home.  Callie and her friend Kali had some fun with the dress-ups one day.
Graham and Brennan started dressing up too. Graham loved seeing himself in that mask!
Then Aiden and his two best buddies - Max and Kai - joined in too! Not quite sure what they were going for but they had fun :)
Carolyn & kids came to town so we went out for ice cream one evening and had fun getting to visit and hang out with family.

I planted my very first garden this year and in August we got to see and enjoy the "fruits" of the labor! I get a lot of fulfillment working out in my yard and learning how to garden and I can't wait to do it again next year.
We enjoyed our first experience with South Weber days.  Here we are at the parade that went down South Weber Drive.
We went over to the Country fair day activities after but it was a mad house and way over priced so Nate and I took the kids to Rush Fun Center instead and had a blast!  Laser tag with all 6 of us was especially fun!
Graham loved getting to join in with the big kids.
They even let Graham try driving around a little track and he did pretty good for being 3!
The kids loved playing in the foam pit there and jumping in the bounce houses.
And they were brave to try out rock climbing too.
Callie got almost 3 inches cut off her hair before 1st grade started.  It makes her look so grown up!
We went and visited my grandma Blackham one day.  They were excited to get to play Candyland there.
After visiting my grandma, we headed to the zoo with my mom. We've loved having a zoo pass this year!
The kids always love to take a picture with the gorilla but this time they were fighting over who got to sit on the Gorilla's head so he took individual shots so everyone could be happy :)
No captions for this pictures other than Graham was obsessed with this mask for a while, Callie loved her new hair cut, and Graham loves baths...especially with lots of bubbles!
School finally started for the kiddos and we were all ready for some structure and routine again!  Even the kids were excited to go back! I posted more about it in another post.
Nate and I went on a date one night and hiked to a cool waterfall in Layton - called Adams Canyon.  It was harder than I thought it would be but it was beautiful up at the top!
Graham finally started preschool (as previously posted) and he was so excited to be like the big kids!
That last weekend of August (Labor day weekend), we headed up to Timpanooke with my parents and camped in our favorite spot!  We had a great time looking for moose (we saw multiple!), hiking the Julie Andrew's Meadow, playing games, talking around the fire, and eating yummy food. A weekend enjoying the beautiful outdoors was just what we needed because life was really stressful during the month of August (and the months surrounding August).  Nate was looking for a new job (more on that later and all of the drama around it) but he hadn't found that new job quite yet.  So our life felt like it was up in the air. So getting some fresh air helped clear our minds and not stress about the future. No better place to do that than Timpanooke!
The boys also loved helping make a fire - finding wood, cutting the wood, and starting it all on their own.
