Nate, Aiden, Brennan, and I hiked Timp! 15 miles and 4,500ft of elevation! It was no joke! We woke up at 4am to start early and it took us about 8 hours to complete. It was incredible!! New favorite hike and new yearly tradition. When we started out early it was dark and a little creepy hearing animals in the bushes. But then we got to witness the most beautiful sunrise. The trail wasn't busy so it felt like we were experiencing that all ourselves. It felt so good to finally reach the meadow. We ended up taking a shortcut up to the saddle and it was steep! I don't recommend that. The climb from the saddle to the summit was a little sketchy and the boys were unsure of it so we took our time on that leg. But once we reached the summit it was breathtaking and so amazing!! We felt so accomplished! The hike down was LONG and the last couple of miles the boys complained a bit and told me they'd never hike again with me :) We bribed them with JCW shakes if they had a good attitude and that helped us all be happy. It felt so good to finally reach the car! We treated ourselves to JCW and once we got to my parents house to pick up the little kids we collapsed on their lawn! Our legs were dead. But in a good way! I can't wait to do it again!
Near the Saddle we saw a bunch of mountain goats which was cool. Then they were above us it was a little freaky that they'd kick a rock down in our direction but it was pretty fascinating to watch them up close.
It was so nice to finally see the peak in view!
SUMMIT!
We signed our names of course and spent about 10-15 minutes up there soaking in the view.
Over 41,000 steps!
A few days later school started!! Our summer had been so busy and we traveled and did a lot so it was exciting to start a routine again and start school!
Aiden 8th Grade
When his friend Kason came to get him they were wearing very similar clothes...
and then they turned around and had the same new backpack! This was not planned :)
Brennan 6th grade - Mr Engles
Callie 3td grade - Mrs. Ledingham
Also Aiden got a growth spurt and quickly passed up grandma and then me! He's looking so grown up!
My garden was finally thriving! After a slow start it finally grew lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, zinnias, cosmos, carrots, and a few little peppers.
Girls night in SLC with my AF friends! We've pretty much all moved away (except Amanda) and I love that we still hang out once a month at Bunco and try to do lunch or dinner occasionally. We always have a blast together!
Flag football begun and Graham played his first season ever! It was the cutest thing. He likes to be just like his big bros. Nate was a good sport and was the coach for all of those Kindergarteners :)
Graham made an ALL ABOUT ME poster and drew himself as Steph Curry :)
And then it was his first day of school!
Graham Kindergarten - Mrs. Bowen AM
He insisted on a "creepy" face
We went to Chick-fil-A with his buddy James and Sheridan after to celebrate the boys starting school!
The Relief Society was assigned to plan the ward campout and since I'm the president I spent a lot of August planning and prepping for that! It was a lot of work but it turned out to be a lot of fun! We went to Aspen Lakes and at night everyone was on their own for dinner and we all just kind of hung out and visited. Fires were banned because of the drought so sadly we couldn't sit around the campfire and chat. We made hot chocolate and served donuts for the dessert. In the morning Cathy and I (with the help of others too - especially Nate) made a big pancake breakfast. We WAY overbought food but it turned out ok in the end. After we cleaned up the kids played in the lakes - canoeing and ziplining and we had a great time! We left a little early to join my parents at Payson Lakes for some more outdoor fun. They had been camping over the same weekend so we just joined them for a bit.
Also Graham lost his first tooth this month! Our baby is getting so BIG!
And here's his picture of Steph Curry. The older boys love the Jazz but somehow Graham as become a huge Warriors fan and Steph Curry is his favorite player.
