Nate, Aiden, and Brennan started the year off with a ward ski trip. Our Bishop is a part owner of a small ski resort in Idaho and he invited the youth from our ward and the Evans Farm 2nd Ward up for a weekend trip. The kids had fun skiing and hanging out with friends! It was a bummer there wasn't a ton of snow but they made the best of it! They were too busy to take any pictures but I did get this one picture from my friend Cathy of the youth hanging out at the lodge. What a great bonding opportunity for the youth in our ward!
We got Get Out Passes for Christmas so Callie, Graham, and I used them while Nate and the older boys were away. We went to Color Me Mine and then to Luv 2 Play at South Towne Mall and grabbed dinner at the mall too. We had so much fun and loved hanging out just the three of us!
NFL was in full swing and to say our family was obsessed with the Niners is an understatement! Nate and the kids have always liked the 49ers but the last few years they have become the biggest fans! We're grateful to my brother Nathan for introducing us to the website DHGate, so we could stock up on lots of discounted jerseys. The boys wear their jerseys all the time! Their love for the niners is strong.
Graham still loves the Warriors, so he represents his favorite NBA team with a DHgate jersey too. He has his own sense of style ;)
We had a crazy snowstorm one night white Nate was out of town and I had to take Callie to dance. It took forever to get out to Pleasant Grove because the roads with ice. Aiden came with me and we just hung out in PG for 2 1/2 hours. We grabbed dinner at Village Baker and hung out in the booth the whole time. Even though the roads were sketchy, I loved some one on one time with Aiden. He was so excited for a picture...
And like last year, Brennan worked hard on making a snow hill again. When he puts his mind to something, he's willing to put in the work to get it done. He spent hours piling snow nearly as tall as him.
Nate and I got to have another kid date with Callie! Callie's dance studio puts on four concerts over their recital weekend and Callie performs in the Saturday concert. She likes to see the recital herself so we always go see it on Friday night with a different cast. And then we get to see her perform on Saturday. This time around they performed Mary Poppins and it was SO good!! Nate met up with us for dinner at Marley's on Friday after the show.
On Saturday, we got to see Callie perform! She did incredible!! My parents and Becca came to see her too. She performed in three songs - one for ballet, jazz, and modern. She shines on stage and her hard work at dance every week is paying off!
Here's a close up of Callie's roses. They were stunning!
The next day these boys advanced in the Aaronic Priesthood. Aiden was ordained a Priest (so crazy!) and Brennan was ordained a teacher. Nate gave them beautiful blessings. My parents and Diane and Gary came and then we all had dinner together after. It was such a special day.
Nate snapped this picture the next Sunday of the boys prepping the sacrament together. <3
These two had a sleepover one night and I walked into this sweet sight. It makes my heart happy! Motherhood is not always easy but this was a tender moment! Graham has been really diligent in reading his scriptures every night as he is preparing to be baptized in a couple of months.
The theme this month was one-on-one dates with the kids I guess. After Brennan had a doctor appointment one morning, we went to Kneaders for brunch. He was happy to miss school and eat some food and I was happy to hang out with him just one-on-one.
Brennan's been doing a speed training class with Nate Soelberg. He's been doing it for Brennan's whole basketball team which has been awesome. This was taken after the training ended. They work hard!
I subbed Graham's class for a whole week. It was tiring! But also a lot of fun being at school with Graham. Callie and her friends loved coming in and acting like the teacher ;) Subbing is exhausting but seeing my kids at school makes it fun!
Callie and I went to see Meg and Paige perform in High School Musical. It was a really cute show.
Nate travelled for work a bunch during January! He went to Sacramento, Vegas, and New York. We were apart nearly half the month! It was a lot. But he got to do some sightseeing in between work meetings and made the best of it.
Aiden went to Pete's Night of Neon at the high school. It's a casual boy's choice dance. He went with Shali and a huge group of their friends. I got to help Mason's mom, Jen Anderson, serve waffles for dinner and then take their pictures. Plus, since they can't drive, I was able to drive them to their day date at Nickel City and to the dance. It's so fun being around high schoolers again. It brings back lots of memories :) Aiden has the greatest group of friends!! They are such nice kids and have a lot of fun together. I am so glad that he's thriving in high school!
Not sure what's going on here...
My friend Sheridan turned 40! For her 40th birthday celebration, she took 12 of her closest friends to Orson Gygi to take a cookie decorating class. It was so much fun! It was my first class there. We made the cutest owl themed sugar cookies and learned so many techniques we can use again. And even though I'm not super creative, my cookies turned out pretty darling (if I do say so myself)!
The 49ers were doing awesome in the Playoffs this year. Every Sunday was a must watch game as they worked their way through the playoffs. Sundays became their favorite day haha.
We celebrated my dad turning 63! We had pizza and homemade eclairs at my parent's house.
To ring in February, I finished off the month with a festive manicure in preparation for February :)
Not pictured: lots and lots of basketball games. Graham played Jr Jazz with his cousin James, Brennan played on a Bantam team with a bunch of his buddies, and Aiden played Jr Jazz with some friends as well.
