kid swap

This past weekend, Nate and I watched our cute niece and nephew while Aaron and Samantha went on a little getaway.  Lydia is just 3 months older than Aiden and McKay is just 4 days younger than Brennan, so this weekend we basically learned what it was like to have both three-year-olds twins AND one-year-old twins!  It was pretty exhausting to say the least and Nate and I decided it was a good dose of birth control :)  But it was also a TON of fun!  The kids all played really well together (I don't remember Aiden and Lydia arguing even once the entire time!) and it was so cute seeing all the cousins bonding.  My favorite thing was eavesdropping on Aiden and Lydia's conversations because they were so random and hilarious.  I really wonder what goes on in a three-year-old's mind sometimes!

We kept really busy while they were here with swimming, going to the park, going to the splash pad in Alpine, hanging out with G&G Tadje, and even going to church with all FOUR kids!  Now that was an adventure!

Sunday evening we hung outside with G&G Tadje while the kids had a lot of fun drawing with chalk (especially tracing each other), eating Pushups, and running around.
When we weren't out and about, the kids found lots of things to occupy their time...most of which included making a huge mess :)
The Splash Pad in Alpine was definitely the favorite activity. G&G Tadje and I took the four munchkins I was watching, plus all five Howard kids to the splash pad, and then 3 more Tadje cousins joined us there...so it was sure a party!  We ate pizza, chased all 3 one-year-olds around, and watched the kids get soaked.
I love that our kids have so many awesome cousins!  I'm so glad Lydia and McKay could hang out with us all weekend. Like I mentioned in the title, this was a kid swap, meaning Aaron and Samantha will be watching our kids next month when we go on a trip just the two of us!!  That definitely made our hectic weekend worth it. We can hardly wait!!
