teddy bear picnic

Brennan loves his stuffed animals, so naturally, we decided to celebrate his 2nd birthday with a Teddy Bear Picnic.  We invited some of his friends to spend the afternoon with us - playing games, eating "picnic" food, and enjoying some cake of course.  The invitation read:

Gather your teddies and listen real quick,
We're celebrating Brennan's birthday with a Teddy Bear Picnic!
So bring your favorite teddy and your appetite too,
We'll be "bear-y" happy to celebrate this fun day with you!

Luckily, Becca use to collect teddy bears, so we had lots to decorate with.  And of course we had to use gummy bears, teddy grahams, and Brennan's favorite "bear" book too.
My wonderful mother and I made him another cut-up cake. We have now made a dragon, a train, some panda bears, a fire truck, and this bear.  It's my favorite birthday tradition.
And here's the adorable birthday boy!
When all the kids arrived, they made some little bear hats (with a lot of help from their moms).  They only lasted on their heads for about 20 seconds (long enough to snap a few pictures).
Then came the games...including pin the bowtie on the teddy, pass the teddy, and freeze dance.
The balloons were quite the hit.
After games, the kids got to eat lunch - including a teddy bear shaped sandwich and teddy grahams...and then the teddy bear cake.
When it came time to open presents, Aiden made sure to help out.  That's what big brothers are for :)
And that's the end of it. Thanks for everyone who came and made it a fun party!

Oh my goodness, there is no way Brennan is already two. He's so grown-up and handsome! You are a pro at kids' birthday parties. The Teddy Bear Picnic theme is adorable :)
