Nate and I got to spend an entire week down in beautiful Lake Powell on an incredible house boat and with some old friends and some new ones. His boss Zach just became a part-owner of a luxurious house boat and he was nice enough to invite us along. Spring weather at Lake Powell is never predictable so there were days it was beautiful and sunny and other days it was raining, windy, and hailing (as the pictures show down below). The sunny and warmer days we spent boating, surfing, hiking, sunbathing, and riding the wave-runners. And the days the weather wasn't so pleasant we spent inside playing games, watching movies, doing puzzles, eating lots of yummy food, and hanging out with friends. Each night we'd do some group games and activities or hang out upstairs around the fire pit and it was fun every night.
I didn't know what to expect from this trip because I didn't know everyone going into it but it ended up being an incredible week and we loved getting to make some new friends. I loved waking up on a beautiful houseboat in beautiful Lake Powell with no cares in the world - you can't beat that!
The water was 60 degrees so luckily I was able to use Angie's dry suit. That thing is amazing!
And here are a few pictures from the crazy hail storm. I've never seen anything like it. At first it looked like fish jumping out of the water all around the lake and then it started to downpour.
The size of the hail compared to a blueberry.
It started sticking to the ground and the beaches started looking like snow. I've never seen Lake Powell like that before so it was pretty cool.
Despite the bipolar weather, we still had an incredible time! My dad and mom watched the kids for the majority of the time and I always know they are in good hands with them! On Monday and Tuesday, Jessica and Alex watched them and the kids had a blast building a huge fort and doing puzzles with them.
We didn't have cell service in Powell (which was so awesome to be disconnected from the world for 6 days!) But I missed a major email saying that Callie did not have school because of Kindergarten testing. So poor girl was dropped off and went to her class and no one was there! So she went to the office and the office tried to call Nate and I but of course our phones were off so we didn't get it. So they tried calling people on our emergency list and no one answered. So then they started asking Callie who her neighbors were and tried calling a bunch of neighbors and no one answered! So finally after an hour they got a hold of my neighbor Vicky and she came and knocked on our door and let Jessica know that there was no school! So Callie was rescued finally! Somehow I didn't get the memo that there was no school so in the future I will make sure the office has our babysitter's numbers in case of an emergency! Lesson learned.
